Want to launch your first digital product and start making passive income?
I break down everything inside Online Creator Course – teaching you how to create, market, and sell digital products that actually make money.
This blog post is based on my YouTube video, where I show you how to create, prepare, and sell a digital product from start to finish.
Why Everyone Should Be Selling Digital Products
Selling digital products is one of the easiest ways to generate income online. No inventory, no shipping, no ongoing production – just one-time effort that can scale infinitely.
If you’ve ever considered launching a digital product, here’s the full process I use.
A Few Assumptions Before We Start
Before diving in, I’m assuming:
You already have a digital product ready to sell (e.g., Notion templates, wallpapers, presets, e-books, courses).
You have a Gumroad account set up (since Gumroad is the easiest way for beginners to start selling).
Step 1: Prepare Your Digital Product
For this example, I’ll be walking through how I sell a wallpaper pack – but the same process applies to any digital product.
Organise Your Files
Your product should be cleanly organised and ready to deliver.
For my wallpaper pack, I created:
A folder for desktop wallpapers
A folder for mobile wallpapers
ZIP files to make downloads easier

Step 2: Create Marketing Materials
Marketing matters just as much as the product itself.
Here’s what I prepare before listing any digital product:
Cover image: A high-quality visual showcasing the product.
Mockups & thumbnails: To make the product look polished.
Product description: A compelling reason why someone should buy.

I use Figma for design, but you can use Canva, Photoshop, or any other tool you’re comfortable with.
If you don’t have design skills, hire an expert on Fiverr or Upwork.
That’s exactly what I did – I outsourced the wallpaper designs to an artist.
Hiring Someone to Create Your Product
If you have a great product idea but lack the technical skills, hire someone to create it for you.
This is what most businesses do.
Celebrities don’t make their own products—they work with manufacturers.
You can do the same for digital products.
For this wallpaper pack, I came across the artist whilst scrolling on X looking for inspiration.
I enjoyed the work that he did, and asked if he would be able to make a pack for me.
We agreed, I paid him his rate, and then what I got was a pack that I could then use and sell.
It’s as simple as that.
Step 3: Upload Your Product to Gumroad
Gumroad is one of the easiest platforms to sell digital products.
Here’s how to list your product:
Go to Gumroad, select “Start Selling” and click "New Product."
Name your product (e.g., "Color Layers Wallpaper Pack").
Choose the product type (digital product, e-book, course, membership, etc.).
Set your price (I priced mine pack at $14).
Upload marketing images (cover image, product mockups).
Write a clear product description with key benefits.
Upload your product files (desktop & mobile ZIP files).
Save & publish your product.
Once it’s live, your product is ready to be sold.
You can now start sharing the link and driving traffic.

Step 4: Pricing Strategy for Digital Products
Pricing depends on the type of product and who it’s for.
Lower-priced digital products ($5–$30): Wallpapers, presets, icons, fonts.
Mid-tier digital products ($50–$100): Notion templates, website themes.
Higher-priced products ($100+): Online courses, masterclasses, consulting services.
If your product saves people time or helps them make money, it’s worth charging more.
A wallpaper is a digital aesthetic, so it’s priced lower.
A Notion template that helps people organise their workflow is worth much more.
You also want to price in accordance to how much time you spent making the product.
A one-page guide will be priced differently to a 35 video masterclass.
Step 5: Marketing—How to Get People to Buy
Most people fail at selling digital products not because of a bad product, but because of bad marketing.
Organic Marketing (Free)
Leverage social media: Share your product on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Write a blog post about it and optimise for SEO (exactly what this blog post that you are reading now is doing).
Create a video showcasing the product and how it helps people.
Paid Marketing (Fast Results)
Run Facebook or Google Ads to targeted audiences.
Use influencer marketing by collaborating with creators in your niche.
Paid marketing can take some ‘finessing’ to get right, so only do it if you are willing to risk your money.
Step 6: Build an Audience for Long-Term Sales
Many people think they need a huge audience before selling a product.
That’s not true.
Your product should help build your audience.
If your digital product provides value, people will share it, helping you grow.
That’s how I built my audience—from selling products first.
Selling Digital Products is Easier Than You Think
Most people overcomplicate it.
To successfully sell digital products, all you need is:
A valuable product that solves a real problem.
A simple, well-presented listing on Gumroad, Shopify, or another platform.
A marketing strategy that drives consistent traffic and sales.
The hardest part is getting started. But once you do, digital products can become a scalable, passive income stream that works for you 24/7.
If you want a step-by-step system for creating, launching, and selling profitable digital products, I break it all down inside Online Creator Course.
